Sheikh Al-Muhadith Muhammad bn Ali Jabata

Sheikh

Sheikh Muhammad bn Ali Jabata (Abu Abdur-Rahman) hails from Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. He began his Islamic education under his father, Ali Abu Bakr, then enrolled at Darul Uloom in Ilorin where he obtained his preparatory certificate. He went on to study at the Arabic Islamic Education Center in Lagos State, Nigeria — founded by Adam Abdullah al-Ilori — and graduated with his secondary certificate. He then travelled to Egypt and enrolled at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, where he passed the secondary-stage entrance examination and joined the Faculty of Usul al-Din (Foundations of Religion). He earned his Bachelor's degree (Licence) and subsequently pursued a Master's at the same faculty. During this stage, Allah guided him to the Salafi methodology through the Salafi youth, as the institutions he had attended were built upon Ash'ari and Sufi creed. He studied the Salafi manhaj under the distinguished scholar and Muhaddith, Muhammad Amr ibn Abdul-Latif (rahimahullah), from whom he gained deep benefit in knowledge, discipline, and methodology. Under his guidance, he came to understand the foundations of the religion upon clarity—grounded in the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf. Through this journey, he learned the correct Islamic rulings with evidence, and became aware of deviations in matters of Aqeedah and methodology that exist within the Ummah. This included recognizing errors found in various theological and spiritual approaches that contradict the way of the early generations. With sincerity, he turned back to Allah, leaving behind previously held positions and practices that were not in line with the authentic teachings, and firmly adhering to what he came to know as the truth. This transformation was not merely theoretical, but reflected in his da‘wah, teachings, and personal commitment to calling others to clarity, unity upon the truth, and adherence to authentic knowledge. For decades, Sheikh Muhammad bn Ali Jabata has been actively teaching and delivering lectures across Kwara State and beyond. His classes cover a wide range of Islamic sciences including Hadith commentary, Fiqh, Aqeedah, Tafsir, Seerah, and Arabic language. Today, his lectures are broadcast across multiple radio stations and online platforms, reaching audiences throughout Nigeria and beyond, benefiting listeners around the world with lessons rooted in authentic scholarship and a clear methodology.
